Crusade for the Illusive Fried Twinkies

Martini Shaken had a very good weekend, complete with deep fried goodness and a few dubious looking roller coasters.

Empezamos nuestro día con una parada “rápida” en De Volada porque la tripa así lo demandaba... mmm...que de “de volada” no tuvo mucho. En fin, Ash con su super bagel y Martini con un smoothie frutoso (hey…I was trying to get some nutrition in my body before the plethora of fried goodies made it’s way into my arteries). Ash me puso al tanto de lo que probablemente veriamos en la feria, incluyendo la probabilidad de encontrar Twinkies Fritos… yeah, right… Fried Twinkies??

Anyway, once on the other side we made a quick stop at a money exchange changarrito. Soooo saaadddd... Con nuestro hard earned money nos paramos en la ventanilla a cambiarlo por los codiciados billetes verdes y regresamos al carro con cara de no mamesssss... Cada vez es menos dinero... en fin, we worked hard last week and we deserved to spend it on futile attempts to win a stuffed Shrek, good eats, feeding goats (hey.. this is top grade amusement for consummate city girl Martini) and freaky rides.

We saw awesome photos, cool art, extremely weird people (always a plus) and Martini tried kettle corn for the first time ever.
When the time for serious eating came, Martini and Ash could not decide which item took their fancy… Could it be the Mile Long Hot Dog? Maybe a huge turkey leg? How about a king size corn dog? By the way.. . there was no sign of the Fried Twinkie yet…
Al final Ash no pudo resistir las papas fritas australianas (she is half irish you know…) y yo compré un mega hot dog con salchicha italiana (an ego booster for some italians) que compartimos con gusto. Debo admitir que las papas están deliciosas, como para acompañarlas con una cervecita (o varias).

I was beginning to think that Miss Ash had pulled my leg once more.. I was convinced that Fried Twinkies where an urban legend, nothing more than myth born in a perverse mind somewhere…. But to my great surprise and disbelief, we found it. The Fried Twinkie is REAL!!!! What’s more, they have Fried Snickers and Fried Oreo’s!

Ain’t life grand…
